Bringing the gentle power of nature indoors.

Our Indoor Nature Sensory Sessions are designed to offer residents a calming, meaningful connection with the natural world even when going outdoors isn’t possible.

Each session combines natural materials such as moss, bark, leaves, and pine cones with gentle conversation, scent exploration, and quiet moments of reflection. A small element of mindful art can also be included.

The experience is soothing, inclusive, and adaptable for residents with a wide range of physical and cognitive needs.

💚 Benefits for Residents

  • Reduces stress and anxiety: Gentle sensory stimulation helps calm the nervous system and promotes relaxation.
  • Encourages reminiscence: Familiar scents and textures often spark memories and stories from earlier years.
  • Supports social connection: Sharing experiences in a small, relaxed group builds warmth, laughter, and a sense of belonging.
  • Enhances wellbeing: Nature-inspired activities can lift mood and increase engagement in daily life

Benefits for Staff & the Care Environment

  • Creates a peaceful, positive atmosphere within the home.

  • Provides a meaningful, ready-to-run activity that complements wellbeing and dementia-friendly programmes.

  • Offers staff an opportunity to join in and enjoy a moment of calm connection alongside residents.

  • Staff can also use the relaxation techniques for themselves at work or homelife to de-stress.

Each session lasts around one hour, with all materials provided. Group sizes are kept small to ensure a relaxed, personal experience for everyone involved.

How it works...

Your residents and staff wellbeing is vitally important. Within companies, burnout, stress, and poor communication can have a big impact. Forest sensory indoor sessions help:

Forest Discovery Box:  Is just that.  Each resident/staff member has a box full of nature items which I invite them to explore under my guidance using their senses.

Exploring:  I play gentle nature sounds in the background, this is proven to relax the mind, I then invite, never instruct them, to explore the crunching sound of the autumn leaves or the fresh aroma of the freshly chipped wood bark for example.  For many this will trigger memories of early by gone days and they begin to reminisce.  It really is a joy to see their  faces light up.

Great for staff:  Of course staff join in, its great for them to hear stories they may not have known about residents, helping them make a deeper connection.  Also helps them to find ways themselves of how to calm their stressful minds down when things get a little hectic, as they do.

Deepen interpersonal trust and team connection from residents and staff alike.
